What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer - Columbia, MD position at Rohde & Schwarz?

The Process Engineer is based in our Columbia, Maryland service facility, however could be partially remote work. This person will work closely with our entire Service department to support any and all process related requests ensuring Service success. This person will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing service-related processes to improve efficiency, quality, and compliance. This role requires strong process mapping skills, experience with documentation control systems, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Your tasks

  • Develop, document, and optimize end-to-end processes using tools such as Visio, Draw.io, or equivalent process mapping software.
  • Conduct workflow analysis to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or improvement.
  • Implement lean, six sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance process performance.
  • Maintain, revise, and control process documentation using Document control/quality management system
  • Work closely with other departments to gather requirements, validate processes, and support system integrations.
  • Facilitate process workshops, stakeholder interviews, and training sessions to ensure org alignment.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship on process mapping, and documentation of best practices.

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of experience in process engineering, business process optimization, or similar role
  • Proficiency with Visio, Draw.IO or other process mapping tool
  • Experience with MasterControl or other document control platform
  • Strong understanding of process documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures
  • Knowledge of Lean, six sigma, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • In order to be considered, candidates must reside in the US and have valid work authorization.

The total compensation for this position is $66K-$85K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
