The Department of Physical Education & Athletics strives to provide a broad-based program which affords Rollins students the opportunity to grow mentally, physically and spiritually. This coincides with Rollins' institutional mission of providing a "high quality liberal arts education" as well as enhancing the "quality of student life." And the institution maintains an energized environment that promotes academic success as a precursor to participation in physical education, intramurals or varsity athletics. Students will be scholars first, athletes second.

Rollins will also teach, counsel, motivate and support all students to encourage their progression as individuals. Course offerings, intramural sports and varsity athletics will provide the opportunity to learn discipline, teamwork, conditioning and sportsmanship.

Supporting the principles of amateur athletics and the policies and procedures of Rollins College, the Sunshine State Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association where applicable while maintaining an ethical athletic program is also important to the development of the department.
