Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a crucial role in providing immediate medical care to patients in emergency situations. This position involves responding to calls for assistance, assessing patient conditions, and delivering appropriate medical interventions while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Duties
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and assess the situation to determine the necessary medical response.
- Provide basic life support, including CPR, first aid, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
- Safely transport patients to medical facilities while monitoring their condition and providing care en route.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals regarding treatment plans and patient status.
- Maintain equipment and vehicles in a clean and operational state, ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked.
- Document patient information accurately and comprehensively for medical records.
- Collaborate with other emergency service personnel to ensure coordinated care during emergencies.
Skills
- Strong customer service skills to interact positively with patients and their families during stressful situations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals.
- Proficient in heavy lifting techniques for safely moving patients or equipment as needed.
- Experience or knowledge in shuttle driving, van driving, limousine services, bus driving, or school bus driving is a plus.
- Capability to maintain composure under pressure while making quick decisions in emergency scenarios.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to assess situations rapidly and determine appropriate actions.
