POSITION SUMMARY
The Plumber is responsible for the fabrication of the plumbing system of the fire apparatus. This position will connect the generator and run water pump lines to the firefighting turrets. The Plumber is also responsible for hydraulic lines and ensuring that the truck meet the specifications of the build.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
All employees are required to support Rosenbauers Mission, Vision, and Values. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.
- Installs the hydraulic system and connect hoses to equipment.
- Connects the generator and pump to the PTO system.
- Places water pump lines onto the chassis and runs them to the desired locations on the fire apparatus.
- Places and installs water turret onto the fire truck apparatus.
- Connects any necessary water hoses to equipment to complete the water system on the fire apparatus.
- Completes installations by looking in the specifications book and procedure manual.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the department.

- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
- Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
- Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely and have a basic understanding on how to use basic hand tools, shear, and brake press.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
- You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization.
- Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Computer Skills:
- Ability to learn how to run a computer terminal or PC.

- Decisions are made within these guidelines initially, and a supervisor is informed afterwards.
- Supervisor regularly reviews the activities to determine if the guidelines have been followed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. The temperature varies due to the building not being temperature controlled and can be humid at times. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop which will cause a difficulty of hearing. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. This position may require contact with corrosives/oil/detergents as well as airborne particles, but by following safety procedures, risk should be minimized. Sometimes this position requires to be above floor level and work in confined spaces.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands for the entire shift. It can become loud in the shop with many machines being used at once. With constant noise, talking or hearing can be difficult. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, hands, and fingers for over 60 minutes at a time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. This position may include reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. For some shifts, the use of arms, knees, legs, back, and shoulders can be range from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
