CNC LATHE MACHINIST

Position Summary
A CNC Lathe Setup Operator at Rotary Systems will never face a boring day. As a Level 2 machinist you will be responsible for setting up 2-3 jobs per day, for short runs, on one of our modern CNC Lathes utilizing Fanuc controls: Mori Seiki, Okuma, Haas, or Nakamura-Tome. Every day you will enter a shop that is clean, climate controlled, and offering every resource necessary to help you be successful. Your work at Rotary Systems will be comfortable, yet challenging.

Responsibilities
- Prepare the machine for daily use, and perform basic machine maintenance
- Utilize the Machinists Handbook as a reference guide for operation
- Load programs from the network onto the machine
- Perform first article setup
- Read and interpret a Gibs Cam set-up sheet
- Read and interpret G&M code program at the machine
- Read and interpret prints in order to callout dimensional sizes of various part features
- Locate or create proper work holding (boring jaws) and install
- Set tool lengths using tool pre-setter / probe
- Locate, install, setup, and touch off tooling
- Set tool geometry offsets
- Set work coordinates
- Run the first article through the program tool by tool
- Make minor program edits at the machine
- Utilize industry standard measuring equipment — including but not limited to micrometers, bore gauges, height stands, thread gauges
- Inspect your own parts during first article set-up, between cycles and prior to obtaining Quality Department inspections
- Basic operation of a CNC Lathe: loading and unloading parts, starting and stopping cycle runs
- Run 2 machines in one work center, as situation dictates
- Check and change tooling between cycles
- 2 years’ experience on a CNC Lathe or a 2-year degree in CNC Machining
- Strong basic math skills to include shop math and trigonometry
- 4 years’ experience on a CNC Lathe
- Some knowledge of G&M codes
- Capable of lifting 50lbs regularly
- Other duties as required
