Preferred Qualifications: One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in a science field.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: The Rousselot plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position requires day shift work. Occasional weekend work on a rotating schedule and occasional overtime will be a requirement for this position.

Summary: Performs routine physical, chemical and microbiological testing on gelatin samples.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Collects and prepares various gelatin, in process, by-products and raw material samples for testing.
- Performs laboratory tests including microbiological, chemical and physical in accordance with written procedures.
- Obtains finished, semi-fished and environmental samples as needed for analysis.
- Identifies non-conforming product and reports to quality management.
- Accurately records data via lab reports and enters test data into computer system.
- Performs weekend and holiday rotation including routine micro and chemical/physical testing.
- Prepares media and stock solutions required for performing tests. Maintains lab supply inventories.
- Keeps work area, supplies, glassware and other equipment clean, organized and properly cared for.
- Calibrates or verifies lab equipment, when appropriate.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.
