What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Housekeeping Manager position at Royal Plaza Inc?
Position Summary: Responsible for the management and operation of the housekeeping and laundry departments to ensure maximum profitability and quality service.
Tasks and Duties:
- Coordinate activities of the assistant housekeeping supervisors to ensure that uniform operational practices are followed and that these practices are in conformity with departmental practices.
- Formulate plans and establish work schedules for employees to ensure equal distribution of workload and revise schedules as required.
- Prepare accurate and aggressive long and short-term range financial objectives for the Housekeeping and Laundry departments.
- Perform detailed inspections of all guest rooms (vacant, check-outs and occupied alike), instructs on necessary corrections, and rechecks to make sure corrections have been made.
- Communicates all maintenance and repair needs to the Manager of Engineering and follows through to completion.
- Plan and provide care for housekeeping equipment, guest room and building furnishings.
- Maintaining cleanliness and neatness of all hotel areas.
- Counsel employees on job performance, discipline. Follow through on 90 day and annual evaluations. Discuss with employees grievance matters, suggestions and complaints. Recommend appropriate action.
- Conduct on-the-job training for all assigned personnel. Develop training for cleaning all types of floors, proper methods of dusting, sweeping, waxing, buffing, cleaning of guest rooms, washing walls and carpet shampooing.
- Regularly inspect work being performed and ensure that standards are being met and maintained.
- Maintaining a perpetual inventory of supplies and equipment to employees as required and verifying orders as they are received. Responsible for inventory of linen and bedding. Maintain a record of materials used, prepare monthly, and periodic reports. Correct waste, misuse or abuse of supplies or equipment.
- Encourage work simplification, efficiency, and general pride in work performed.
- Assist the Rooms Division Manager and General Manager with any special projects.
Prerequisites:
Education: Two year Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree for a four-year college highly desired. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) that are used in the workplace and by guests who frequently visit the workplace.
Experience: Minimum of two years housekeeping experience, along with a minimum of one year managerial experience. Experience in current computer programs desired.
Physical: Requires excellent written, verbal and listening skills, eye for detail and perfection, proficiency in customer service and employee relations. This position entails much walking, bending, stooping, carrying, reaching and lifting.
