JOB TITLE: Maintenance/Operations Assistant l

SALARY: $24.50 to $26.50
SUMMARY:
The Operations Assistant is responsible for the oversight of maintenance and life safety, as well as other concerns, for the school. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks related to maintaining and improving the school facilities and satellite locations. They perform most Maintenance functions themselves such as; electrical, plumbing, general repairs, carpentry, gutter/downspouts, painting, safety oversight, and other related items to ensure all campus facilities are in working order. In addition, they oversee the work of contractors who maintain or repair major electrical, plumbing, ventilation and other building systems. This position requires an employee that is skilled and knowledgeable in many different facets of building maintenance including sanitation, safety protocols, waste removal and knowledge of standard operating procedures. This position is one of the most vital as the school must always be kept up to code for the safety of all clients and staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handle or oversee day to day maintenance; plumbing, carpentry, simple electrical, painting, safety, and repairs in general.
Responsible for handling preventative maintenance.
Maintenance related duties include performing initial evaluation of building systems and documenting work orders for completion.
Ensuring that stormwater systems are functioning and sanitary, performing properly with no obstructions.
Meets Maintenance operational standards by conveying maintenance information to supervisor for strategic planning and review.
Implements production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards to prevent and resolve potential problems that may arise.
Meets Maintenance financial standards by providing efficient operations, monitoring of expenditures, identifying concerns and implementing corrective actions.
Evaluates functionality and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments; identifying problems, requirements and solutions.
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by complying with state and local codes, DOH and OSHA regulations.
Maintains Organizations Mission by addressing the communities needs in a timely, efficient, cost-effective manner.
GENERAL TASKS:
Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat, clean, and safe at all times.
Changes filters in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide proper air filtration, temperatures appropriate to the season, and to insure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.
Shovels, plows and/or salts walks, play areas and steps as appropriate to maintain safe conditions.
Checks daily to ensure that all interior/exterior lighting and exit signs are working properly in addition to guarantee that all emergency fire exits are clear for egress.
Ensures overall cleanliness of facility and assists in daily housekeeping duties as needed according to standard operating procedures.
Maintain cleanliness standards to ensure bathroom floors are disinfected daily and all fixtures and drinking fountains are sanitized daily, according to standard operating procedures.
Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least once a year, and more frequently if necessary.
Monitor grounds daily to keep free of trash, tree debris and safety issues.
Reports major repairs and safety concerns promptly to the supervisor.
Reports immediately to the supervisor any trespassers or damage to school property.
Works professionally on school premises and in CLAs respecting the clients and staff at all times. Considerately notify CLA Supervisors in advance of any maintenance visits to their site.
Moves supplies, furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities, and as directed by the supervisor according to standard operating procedures.
Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, waste, electronics and chemicals.
Conducts periodic inspections of school premises and CLAs according to standard operating procedures.
Operations Assistants are to follow all safety procedures; including the wearing of safety glasses, gloves, etc., when warranted. Work boots required daily.
Perform monthly fire drills and inspect/initial ALL fire extinguishers. Check function of illuminated exit signs and emergency lighting. Replace as needed.
Responsibilities for minor repairs to include lights, ceiling tiles, etc. (daily)
Performs any other work as assigned by supervisor to support the daily demands of the school.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
One year’s experience in a related field.
High school diploma.
