The accounting specialist is responsible for maintaining precise financial records, preparing accurate reports, and supporting all aspects of accounting operations. This role demands exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical ability, and a proactive mindset.
You’ll work closely with management to ensure timely financial closings, process improvements, and compliance with internal controls. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes ownership, thrives on accountability, and values accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and record journal entries for daily, weekly, and monthly transactions.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closings, including balance sheet and income statement reviews.Prepare and analyze financial statements and internal management reports.
- Support annual audits by providing schedules, documentation, and variance explanations.
Accounts Receivable & Payable
- Review and post accounts receivable and payable transactions accurately and timely.
- Reconcile customer and vendor accounts to resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the Collection Specialist to ensure proper posting of payments and credits.
- Monitor outstanding balances and assist with payment forecasting and cash flow management.
Fixed Assets & Job Costing
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Support job cost tracking by reviewing project-related expenses and allocations.
- Ensure equipment and rental assets are accurately recorded and depreciated according to policy.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure adherence to accounting principles and company policies.
- Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy.Support management in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.Maintain organized and audit-ready financial documentation.
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in general accounting or financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Proficiency with ERP accounting systems (QuickBooks Enterprise, Texada, Sage Intacct, or similar).
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
