What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Quality Control/Quality Assurance Specialist position at RQ Construction?
Headquartered in beautiful Carlsbad, CA, with secondary support operations located in Jacksonville, NC, and Norfolk area, VA, RQ is a full-service Design-Build company. We offer management of projects throughout the United States, with our field operations' team members who work on location for each of our projects. We currently have a backlog of work of $1B in CA, WA, VA, NC, SC, FL and also Guantanamo Cuba and Puerto Rico. We specialize in fast-track projects in new commercial construction with a primary focus in the Department of Defense market.
We are looking to a Mechanical Quality Assurance/Quality Control Specialist to join our Mechanical Division on the East Coast (work centered in Norfolk, VA and Camp Lejeune, NC). This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the quality of the fabrication, installation, and testing of all mechanical systems. The position is also responsible for ensuring that mechanical and plumbing work is installed in accordance with the specifications and RFP for any given project and documenting the acceptance of work. Travel will be required for this position (approximately 20% outside of area). This position will be stationed in the Norfolk, VA area. Local candidates will be given preference, though relocation to this area will be considered.
- A BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is the minimum formal education preferred for this position. A combination of equivalent work experience and training in the field may be qualifying.
- Ten (10) or more years as a Superintendent/Quality Control Manager/ Project Manager/Project Engineer/Construction Manager for a mechanical contractor required. Work must be in similar size and type of construction contracts.
- Specialty inspection training and licenses/certs highly desired.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet, etc.) required.
- CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour Certifications required. Training can be provided.
- Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management Certificate required. Training can be provided.
- Current EM385‐1‐1 40 Hour Safety Certification required.
- Travel will be required (approximately 20% of the time outside of the assigned location).

Salary : $90,000 - $115,000
