SUMMARY
We are searching for a Peer Recovery Specialist to support clients by offering outreach, encouragement, and support. The Peer Recovery Specialist will cultivate and secure a connection with individuals, while teaching personal responsibility and serving as a mentor and role model.This role is specifically designed to work with our Intake/Outreach team to provide support to participants who are transitioning into housing. This support is broad and can cover an array of services related to emotional, referral/resources, logistical help, and being a bridge for our participants who are moving from homelessness to housed. They will be a member of the Intake team and support the work that is done.

They will be a member of the Intake team and support the work that is done.
Responsibilities
- Empower clients by helping them identify and remove barriers to housing.
- Connect clients to resources and organizations to help foster and sustain long‐term health and increase remaining successfully housed.
- Meet with clients on a regular basis to discuss routine transition issues while pulling on the peer perspective.
- Provide direct assistance in the form of transportation, filling out forms or making phone calls, and accompanying clients to appointments to support the process.
- Assist in finding necessary community services to meet basic needs.
- Interface with family members or other involved parties for the purpose of maintaining or enhancing a person’s functioning and recovery.
- Provide education about self-help groups and sponsorship and assist clients in finding recovery support meetings that accommodate schedules, child care, etc.
- Participation in clinical supervision at least twice monthly
- Support ISP documentation upon entry into housing. Provide support for assessments and engagement in services
- Support new participants in housing for up to 90 days to assure successful transition into a housing community
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
Required:
- Completion of recovery coach training program offered by the MCB (training provided).
- 1 years of experience providing support services in a behavioral health / chemical health / and or supported housing setting.
- Current and valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals recovering from addictions and mental health
- Experience with homeless populations and the homeless system
- Ability to connect with, engage, and empathize with people from diverse backgrounds with multiple challenges.
