This position functions at a professional level with no supervisory responsibilities. This position is responsible for analysis of expenditures and compliance with contract/PO provisions, analysis of reports for accuracy, preparation of budget amendments and assists in the analysis of quarterly budget variances, identifies potential solutions to issues and problems and provides assistance to staff regarding budget procedures, coding, and funding availability.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL :

  • Reviews and analyzes expenditures and documents changes to budgets, identifies potential funding problems, makes recommendations for possible solutions, and provides assistance to other staff regarding funding availability, budget codes, and budget procedures.
  • Prepares budget amendments and provides supporting documentation as needed for approval.
  • Assists in the analysis and explanation of quarterly budget variances.
  • Analyzes reports to determine proper commitments, obligations, and funding availability.
  • Analyzes invoices for accuracy and compliance with contract/PO provisions, verifies proper retainage, and recommends close out of projects when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance is required. Master’s degree in business, accounting, or finance field is a plus.
  • Three years of experience in budgeting, accounting, and financial analysis. Experience in government, especially transit, is preferred but not required.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiar with working in a large accounting system such as Oracle or SAP
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Ability to use sound judgement
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.

Pay Range

$77,437.00 - $109,380.25 Annual
