Solderer and Assembler of PCB/Chip Shooter Operator
RTP Corporation located in Pompano Beach, FL, a leading manufacturer of control systems for the process and utility industries is seeking an Electronic Assembler/Chip Shooter Operator of PC Boards.
Job Summary:
Skilled solderer with experience in assembling and soldering circuit boards. Solid understanding of SMD and thru-hole components. Meticulous attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination. A Chip Shooter Operator, in the context of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing, is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment that accurately places small electronic components (chips) onto printed circuit boards (PCBs).
_ Duties/Responsibilities:_
- Performs various types of component placement and soldering of surface mount and thru-hole components.
- Kits components per the bill-of-materials.
- Sets up equipment and solders components together.
- Documents production totals and any errors.
- Cleans work area and equipment.
- The operator sets up and operates the chip shooter machine according to work orders, ensuring components are placed accurately and efficiently.
· This includes tasks like loading components, adjusting machine settings, and performing routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
· Monitoring the machine during operation, inspecting the PCBs for placement accuracy, and identifying potential issues to ensure product quality.
· Diagnosing and resolving minor technical issues with the chip shooter equipment.
· Maintaining accurate records of machine operations, component usage, and any adjustments made.
· Adhering to all relevant safety protocols and regulations, including those related to electrostatic discharge (ESD).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to read assembly drawings.
- Extensive knowledge of soldering process and techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Previous related experience preferred; on-the-job training offered. Potentially providing training to new SMT operators. A high school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically able to solder components and stand for long periods of time when operating the Chip Shooter.
