TITLE: Reentry Coach, Reentry Success Center
JOB SUMMARY: The Reentry Coach (the Coach) performs a wide range of critical roles to ensure the successful operation of the West County Reentry Success Center (The Center). The Center is a central service hub that coordinates reentry services for its members who have been directly impacted by prior incarceration. Working with Center staff and partners, the Coach provides the
Center’s members with service planning, service delivery, and retention services; participate in community outreach efforts that engage members, partners, and other stakeholders in the Center’s activities; fosters partnerships and promote processes that contribute to the reentry success of members; and facilitates the Center’s operations in the absence of the Center Director or other senior staff. The Coach may frequently serve as a “first contact” for the community as they begin to engage with the Center; may serve as a “problem solver” to help negotiate solutions for community members or partners, and helps set and maintain the
Center’s culture by fostering welcoming, acceptance, inclusion, and collective excellence.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Director of the West County Reentry Success Center; evenings and weekends are required for this position. Contra Costa County residents and justice impacted individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coaching and group facilitation: Serve as a welcoming, positive, and empathetic point of contact with clients as they engage with the Center; provide informational orientations about the Center and its work for members, partners, and others; conduct one-on-one meetings with members to provide them with honest and productive feedback, supportive guidance, and assistance prioritizing necessary interventions and activities; schedule and facilitate reentry related programming and activities; design, coordinate, and lead groups of member in support sessions, reentry success workshops, and/or skill-based training
  • Partnership support: Serve as the primary point of contact for Center partners in their direct-service work with members, supporting smooth and coordinated development and implementation of member service plans; help address day-to-day challenges to collaboration experienced by partners and other difficulties partners may experience with members; help partners make appropriate referrals to needed services available at the Center’s or in the broader community; participate in case conference/coordination meetings, as needed
  • Data gathering and use: Use, and support others in using, the customized data platform (SAFE) used by the Center; gather and enter appropriate data at each appropriate “touchpoint” in a member’s journey to reentry success
  • Outreach: Serve as an external ambassador for the Center at community events and forums; provide information about the Center to the public through deliberate community outreach efforts that will include County jails and State prisons, neighborhood councils, faith-based congregations, and other applicable community settings)
  • Service Planning: Establish and manage a cross-jurisdictional, multi-agency, rapid reintegration service team responsible for developing and supporting the reentry needs of individuals with the guidance of nine- to 12-month service plans
  • Program Coordination: Open, close, and operate the activities of the Center in the absence of the Center Director, or other supervising staff – accomplishing necessary administrative tasks; effectively coordinating partner use of the Center’s shared office and meeting room space; and ensuring the safe use and enjoyment of the Center by all of its members, partners, and visitors
  • Transportation/Resources: Provide transportation to individuals who are released from custody and are accessing services and resources critical to their reentry success
COMPETENCIES
  • Extensive experience and expertise working with the reentry population, their families, or other people facing complex challenges that result in social isolation and/or exclusion; a steadfast initiative with capable problem-solving skills
REQUIREMENTS
  • Components of this program are provided within the County’s jails, therefore a candidate's ability to obtain clearance to visit and work within correctional facilities is required
  • Regular travel throughout Contra Costa County is required and therefore proof of a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and ongoing documentation of acceptable Motor Vehicle Reports are required
PAY GRADE: N11

HIRING RANGE: Commensurate with experience
