What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Supervisor position at Rumpke?

Inventory Supervisors are responsible for managing inventory staff of 6 to 10 employees. They will be responsible for ensuring the availability of parts for the maintenance department in a cost-effective manner while maintaining compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.  Maintains proper inventory to ensure mechanics demands are met in the most efficient manner possible.   

 

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Supervise the parts staff, including hiring, training, scheduling work assignments, performance management, and disciplinary issues.
  • Manage & utilize inventory control programs.
  • Perform annual year end inventories and random quarterly audits.
  • Manage Warranty processes and claims processing.
  • Maintain contact with business representatives from original equipment manufacturers for purchasing inventory parts and troubleshooting deficiencies with products and/or deliveries.
  • Maintain Company and Department policies and procedures.
  • Control maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Train and direct employees to improve their overall performance.
  • Monitor and enforce quality and safety standards and ensure all compliance goals are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure completion of daily duties and ensure that all productivity goals are met or exceeded.
  • Perform and conduct performance evaluations, monitor and track employee attendance, complete disciplinary actions/meetings, and conduct terminations.
  • Maintain proper records and files including all compliance and personnel records.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, employees, and managers.
  • Conduct investigations for accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure all work performed is completed in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, and climbing).
  • Be able to occasionally lift and carry weights exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Professional etiquette and appearance.
  • Possess excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, takes initiative, and be flexible and cooperative.
  • Ability to follow and to motivate other to follow standard purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with strong sense of urgency regarding parts acquisitions.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Excellent computer skills; Microsoft Office; AS400, TMT, and vendor site applications a plus.
  • Be able to work independently, make decisions, prioritize work, and resolve problems.

 

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
