JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Staff Speech Language Pathologist
General Summary: Responsible for all aspects of speech language pathology service delivery including evaluation, intervention planning, implementation, and outcome evaluation. The speech language pathologist (SLP) is an active participant in the acute care interdisciplinary team. The SLP meets the requirements of all internal and external regulatory bodies. Each therapist exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values of care and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures
Primary Duties:
Directs the evaluation process including determining the need for services, defining problems with the domain of SLP, determining goals, and establishing treatment priorities.
Develops the intervention plan in collaboration with all team members
Implements the intervention plan and provide comprehensive and appropriate speech, language, voice, swallowing and rehabilitative services.
Determines the need to modify, continue or discontinue services
Selects, measures and interprets outcomes.
Maintains departmental productivity standards.
Demonstrates the ICARE values with patients, colleagues, and interdisciplinary team members.
Adheres to policies and procedures.
Maintains accurate and timely patient documentation.
Participates in continuous quality improvement processes and program evaluation.
Supervises SLP students and other students as directed.
Identifies and pursues own professional growth and development.
Provides proof of completed documents related to health and education requirements.
Monitors own performance and identifies opportunities for supervisory needs
Functions according to the SLP Code of Ethics and standards of the profession.
Supports the practice of practitioner-teacher-investigator model by teaching and following evidenced based practice.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Graduate of an accredited SLP Program
Initial certification of clinical competence required
Meets all state regulatory requirements.
Basic computer skills
Team oriented with commitment to diversity and inclusion with patients and coworkers
