What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foreman position at Russell Standard?
The Pavement Preservation Foreman is a key role in overseeing the day to day activities of our projects and teams.The Foreman coordinates all site activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete assigned projects on schedule and within budget. They do this by using project information to ensure that crews are scheduled and carry out the project specifications daily, safely, efficiently and profitably. The Foreman is responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with customers and vendors and team members, keeping accurate records on pay quantities, material quantities, employee hours, equipment hours and weather conditions. The ideal candidate must be able to adapt and make on-site decisions as project conditions change.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and lead daily safety Toolbox Talks safety meetings.
- Conduct morning meeting to plan the day (assignments, tools, materials, issues, etc).
- Create crew schedule based on various variables and communicate project location and details to crew and drivers.
- Serve as contact person on the job-site for the customer and inspectors.
- Resolve problems on the job or related problems on site.
- Ensure warning signs, traffic control devises and flaggers are in place. Convey specific hazards to crew.
- Enforce company and customer safety policies on the job.
- Plan and order materials. Determine delivery times and quantities, and schedule trucks as needed.
- Communicate clear expectations and interpretations of plans and specifications.
- Monitor changing weather and road conditions and make appropriate on-site judgments.
- Maintain daily project documentation as required by division (time sheets, item quantities, equipment usage, material receipts) and turn in daily as directed by Corporate policy.
- Assure quality controls are met (density, depth, slope requirements, etc.).
- Assist by filling in crew gaps as needed.
- Maintain housekeeping requirements at job sites, equipment, vehicles.
- Maintain a zero incident workplace by enforcing and following Corporate Safety requirements.
- Effective project planning (pre-job planning, daily task planning, short interval scheduling).
