Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes with other specialists. Review patients functional needs and adjusts care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Designs and implements a plan of care for patients based on thorough assessments of potential development and incorporates participation by significant others whenever it seems possible.
- Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
- Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients functional goals.
- Communicate effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans. Regularly updates documentation
- Provides direction and leadership to staff and acts as a resource to promote physical therapy in the community.
Qualifications
- Current medical license and certification
- Communication skills. Physical therapists must clearly explain treatment programs, motivate patients, and listen to patients' concerns in order to provide effective therapy.
- Ability to explain complex medical concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
- Excellent observational and assessment skills
