POSITION SUMMARY
The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) provides direct clinical services to adults and/or adolescents in our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). The QMHP facilitates therapeutic groups, provides individual supportive counseling, conducts assessments, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary treatment team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health services in accordance with Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic group sessions (4-6 groups daily)
- Provide individual supportive counseling and crisis intervention as needed
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Document all clinical services in the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely manner
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and case managers in treatment planning
- Coordinate care with external providers, families, and community resources
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment interventions accordingly
- Participate in daily treatment team meetings and weekly clinical supervision
- Ensure compliance with DBHDS regulations, HIPAA, and organizational policies
- Assist with discharge planning and aftercare coordination
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related human services field; OR
- Bachelor's degree in a human services field with qualifying experience per Virginia DBHDS QMHP requirements
Licensure/Certification:
- Must meet Virginia QMHP qualifications as defined by 12VAC35-105-20
- QMHP-A (Adult) and/or QMHP-C (Child) registration preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a mental health setting preferred
- Experience with PHP, IOP, or inpatient psychiatric settings strongly preferred
- Experience facilitating group therapy
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and evidence-based treatment modalities
- Strong clinical documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR)
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
