Asphalt Distributor Driver

Position Summary

The Asphalt Distributor Operator's primary function is to operate the asphalt distributor truck applying liquid asphalt prior to an area being paved. The operator must perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to a supervisor.

In addition, the operator may be required to perform minor repairs to the equipment and is expected to assist in the general operation of teach job site. The position consists of but is not limited to the following duties:

Ideally the candidate will be open to travel to Diboll, Lubbock, and Florida as well.

• Filling asphalt and burner fuel tanks
• Setting spray bars
• Spraying joints and other surfaces
• Cleaning excess asphalt out of tanks, and from spray bars.
• Driving company vehicles
• Set up and maintenance of all traffic control aids
• Operating rollers, trucks, power broom, tamps, and skid steer loaders, and any other equipment the employee can operate

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Loading and unloading trucks

· Verifying material weight

· Driving to various destinations

· Performing regular maintenance on the truck

· Maintaining records and shipping documents

· Make sure materials are loaded and secured correctly

· Follow the road’s safety regulations at all times

· Report any accidents, injuries, or mechanical failures to management

· Following company safety rules and policies

· Follow TXDOT Regulations

· Pre and post trip inspection

· Use of PPE

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Safe driving abilities
• Time management
• Recordkeeping
• Communication Skills
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• CDL Class A or B

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. It is suggested that the employee is previously conditioned to experience long amounts of time outside in the physical elements, such as heat, sun, wind, rain, etc. The employee will occasionally be exposed to dust and loud noises.

Work at a construction site where duties will be performed outdoors and indoors.

• Dexterity of hand and fingers to operator equipment. to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other business machines as needed.
• Complex or simple manipulation of tools and equipment.
• May be expected to regularly stand, sit, walk, kneel, crawl, and climb.
• Reach with hands and arms
• Clear vision to read material tags, construction drawings, submittals, [more senior roles: and request for information (RFI).
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Safety Hazard of the Job

Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment. Work involves working with and/or near heavy equipment and vehicle traffic. Driving a vehicle and getting on/off equipment. On occasion work near body or water. Occasional exposure to wildlife.
