REQUIRED: Battery Certifications
Solar battery technicians need to have a variety of skills and knowledge, including:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent, plus vocational or technical training in solar energy systems
- Experience: Relevant experience in solar energy or a related industry, such as electrical installation or maintenance
- Certifications: A professional certificate in photovoltaic systems installation
- Technical skills: Knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, grounding, and electrical testing
- Troubleshooting skills: The ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with electrical systems, solar inverters, and other key components
- Safety protocols: The ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces
- Communication skills: The ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and customers
Solar battery technicians should also be able to:
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Install different types of inverters, solar batteries, and battery management systems
- Connect the system to the building's electrical panel safely
