Job Title: Director of Development

Summary:
Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Development to lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts that directly support our mission to build safe, affordable housing in our community. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a strategic, mission-driven professional with a strong background in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, donor stewardship, and development operations.
In this role, you will create and implement a comprehensive development strategy, cultivate donor relationships, secure grants and major gifts, manage fundraising campaigns, and lead a growing development team. You’ll work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to grow and diversify funding streams that support long-term impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead annual and long-term fundraising strategy across all channels (individual, corporate, foundation, and planned giving)
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners
- Write and manage grant proposals and reporting requirements
- Oversee fundraising campaigns, events, and donor communications
- Supervise the Community Impact Manager and collaborate cross-departmentally
- Monitor KPIs, manage development budget, and report on fundraising progress
- Represent Habitat at community events, donor meetings, and public speaking opportunities
Qualifications:
- 5 years in nonprofit development, fundraising, or donor relations
- Proven success in securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
- Experience with donor management systems (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce, DonorPerfect)
- Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills
- Knowledge of Saginaw-Shiawassee’s philanthropic landscape preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required; CFRE or fundraising certification preferred
