Sample Prep Technician

About SAI Gulf, LLC:

SAI Gulf specializes in the sampling and analysis of solid fuels such as coal, coke, and petroleum coke in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico region and samples over 45 million tons of dry bulk commodities annually.

SAI Gulf currently operates three testing laboratories fully equipped to provide sample preparation and analytical services for dry bulk fuel commodities.

Prep Technician - Essential Functions:

To perform the following on Petroleum Coke and Coal products:

• Perform sample preparation according to instructions in accordance with appropriate sampling directives and specifications (ASTM, Work Instruction Manual, etc.).
• Perform Hardgrove Grindability determination keeping appropriate and accurate records of findings in accordance with appropriate specifications (ASTM, Work Instruction Manual).
• Perform Sieve Analysis determination keeping appropriate and accurate records of findings in accordance with appropriate specifications (ASTM, Work Instruction Manual).
• Perform Moisture determination keeping appropriate and accurate records of findings in accordance with appropriate specifications (ASTM, Work Instruction Manual).
• Perform Shot content determination keeping appropriate and accurate records of findings in accordance with appropriate specifications (ASTM, Work Instruction Manual).
• Ensure that samples received at the laboratory site are accurately and completely marked, and properly secured against contamination and unauthorized tampering.
• Ensuring that samples received at the laboratory site are properly documented prior to sample preparation.
• Perform maintenance on prep area equipment.
• Perform field assignments according to the customer’s requirements or other instructions in accordance with appropriate directives and specifications (ASTM, Work Instruction Manual, etc.).
• Keeping appropriate and accurate records of field activities and observations as per instructions provided for the particular field assignment.
• Ensuring that field samples are accurately and completely marked, and properly secured against contamination and unauthorized tampering.
• Ensuring that field samples are in proper custody during shipment to the lab according to the instructions or directives in force for the particular assignment.
• Ensuring that instructions are communicated to and fully understood by the relief prep technician.
• Housekeeping duties

Qualifications:

• Must have High School diploma
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Comfortable working in outside conditions
