What are the responsibilities and job description for the Butcher/Meat Cutter position at Sailer's Food Market & Meat Processing?
Responsibilities include total breakdown of beef or hog carcass with the use of a meat saw, additional trimming of meat, as well as grinding and/or packaging.
- Cuts and trims meat products using a knife.
- Operates various production equipment in the processing of meat products which includes packaging, skinning and grinding.
- Operate saws, knives, cuber, and additional equipment as needed.
- Maintain proper sanitary conditions to include cleaning and sanitizing of all work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
- Conform to all relevant USDA standards as they apply to the position.
- Fill in positions and areas as necessary.
- Follows company Good Manufacturing Practice program to produce safe, quality food.
- Performs various other production duties as assigned by management.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Moderate to heavy lifting and walking - lifting/carrying to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling to 50 force lbs., reaching, turning, standing, squatting, stooping/bending, equipment operation (meat saw, bone scraper, knives, slicer, band saw, scales, wrapping machine). Must be able to work effectively in refrigerated/cooler environment.
