Maintenance Supervisor/Technician

The maintenance supervisor is responsible for keeping the school buildings and grounds clean, in good repair and orderly condition, while supporting and advancing the mission of the school.

Essential Responsibilities

• Sees to and monitors needed repairs to school buildings and property
• Shovels snow and ice as needed; keeps walkways clear of debris
• Performs basic electrical, plumbing, heating and carpentry repairs
• Assists in sweeping, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors
• Moves furniture, equipment and materials, between and in buildings or offices as needed
• Operates equipment for transporting, pickup and delivery of equipment, furnishings, materials and supplies
• Monitors HVAC systems to ensure temperatures are always at comfortable levels in buildings
• Assists in transporting trash and waste to disposal areas as needed
• Sets up and assembles furniture and/or equipment
• Orders and maintains stock of janitorial and maintenance supplies
• Checks buildings for signs of vandalism
• Polices exterior of buildings, sidewalks and parking areas
• Performs preventive maintenance on basic equipment
• Ensures that the security and fire alarm systems are in sound working condition, and advises the supervisor when repairs are necessary; coordinates maintenance and repair work with contractors
• Responds to emergency and security calls in the absence of the building and property supervisor
• Maintains fire extinguishers and assists with fire drills
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, demonstrating initiative and responsibility. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
• High school diploma required/post-secondary education preferred
• Valid driver’s license in WV, OH or PA
• 3-5 years maintenance supervisory experience or equivalent
• HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical experience required
• Degree of supervision required is minimal
• Decision-making authority - moderate
• Degree of supervision received – minimal
• Administrative responsibilities: Recording documentation, administering policies and procedures

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
