The maintenance supervisor is responsible for keeping the school buildings and grounds clean, in good repair and orderly condition, while supporting and advancing the mission of the school.
Essential Responsibilities
- Sees to and monitors needed repairs to school buildings and property
- Shovels snow and ice as needed; keeps walkways clear of debris
- Performs basic electrical, plumbing, heating and carpentry repairs
- Assists in sweeping, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors
- Moves furniture, equipment and materials, between and in buildings or offices as needed
- Operates equipment for transporting, pickup and delivery of equipment, furnishings, materials and supplies
- Monitors HVAC systems to ensure temperatures are always at comfortable levels in buildings
- Assists in transporting trash and waste to disposal areas as needed
- Sets up and assembles furniture and/or equipment
- Orders and maintains stock of janitorial and maintenance supplies
- Checks buildings for signs of vandalism
- Polices exterior of buildings, sidewalks and parking areas
- Performs preventive maintenance on basic equipment
- Ensures that the security and fire alarm systems are in sound working condition, and advises the supervisor when repairs are necessary; coordinates maintenance and repair work with contractors
- Responds to emergency and security calls in the absence of the building and property supervisor
- Maintains fire extinguishers and assists with fire drills
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, demonstrating initiative and responsibility. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
- High school diploma required/post-secondary education preferred
- Valid driver’s license in WV, OH or PA
- 3-5 years maintenance supervisory experience or equivalent
- HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical experience required
- Degree of supervision required is minimal
- Decision-making authority - moderate
- Degree of supervision received – minimal
- Administrative responsibilities: Recording documentation, administering policies and procedures
