SUMMARY:
The Receptionist will manage the front desk at a campus in a courteous and professional manner while maintaining a welcoming reception area.
PRIMARY DUTIES (list order does not signify level of importance):
- Greets members, guests and vendors and provide direction and information
- Maintains visitor log
- Answers phone calls, screens and routes calls appropriately
- Updates member and guest records in church management system
- Opens, sorts and distributes mail
- Handles individual and mass mailings
- Sends e-Care notifications, bereavement letters and other member-related documents
- Prepares and prints funeral programs
- Receives, processes and ensures confidentiality of sensitive information
- Generates letters, labels and certificates, as requested
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
- 2-3 years of experience as a receptionist or similar support role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the church’s workflow and operating procedures
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and ensure accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to use discretion and sensitivity when handling confidential information.
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy and accurate typing skills
- Beginner to Mid-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, EXCEL and Powerpoint)
- Exceptional communication skills - verbal, written, and interpersonal
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to discern the needs of others and to respond appropriately based on a clear understanding of the church’s core values, policies and procedures
- Professional phone etiquette
- Ability to handle multiple phone calls at once, then inform and contact others
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and navigate effectively under pressure
- Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Sitting for extended periods, occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 15 lbs.
