Certified Respiratory Care Practitioner
Respiratory Therapy
The Certified Respiratory Care Practitioner will:
- Perform diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures as appropriate to the ages of the patient's growth and development through the life cycle factors.
- Initiate and maintain mechanical ventilation. Respond to emergent patient care.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an AMA-approved one (1) year Program in Respiratory Therapy.
- Licensed by the State of New Jersey Board of Respiratory Care as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Demonstrated competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; a knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.
- Demonstrated competency in the care and treatment of the following age groups: Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.
- BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) obtained within 30 days of start date.
- Certified Respiratory Care Practitioners trained and assigned to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on a regular basis is required to obtain the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
