Payroll and Benefits Specialist
We’re looking to add to our Payroll Team. The Payroll Administrator is responsible for all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization payroll processing objectives with a high degree of confidentiality. This position requires a detail oriented person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process weekly payroll for hourly, salaried, and temporary employees; including reviewing and importing hours from time and attendance system, entering tax and direct deposit information, administering regulatory requirements, e.g., garnishments, tax levies, and other adjustments to pay as necessary.
- Assist Drivers with proper completion of paperwork and other payroll documents
- Administer the time and attendance policy and paid leave policy for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities in the positive and courteous manner
- Facilitate audits when necessary, by providing records and documentation to Finance Team for quarterly and year end audits (Payroll, Workers Comp, 401k, OSHA etc.).
- Produce scheduled and ad-hoc reports pertaining to payroll and human resources requirements.
- Assist accounting with month-end, year-end reconciliations and reporting
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience administering payroll and benefits processes required.
- Work experience should include strong understanding of payroll and benefits administration, and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of software applications including payroll, benefits, time & attendance. Experience with ADP a plus.
- A high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Demonstrate exceptional analytical skills and ability to create useful and actionable reports from data.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong organization skills and ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work on deadline.
- A creative outlook with a problem-solving attitude.
- The ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- A Bachelor’s degree or relevant years of experience; PHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred.
