Dental Assistant

Who we are:

We are a grace-driven nonprofit that serves the hurting and hungry of Northwest Arkansas with dignity and compassion. For over 20 years, Samaritan has grown to include multiple feeding and health programs at four locations in Rogers and Springdale.

Dental Assistant:

Dental Assistants are responsible for assisting dentists, clinic and equipment set-up, patient check-in, patient preparation for treatment, maintaining accurate clinic notes, and maintaining compliance with all federal and state dental clinic policies and regulations.

Responsibilities:

· Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey, as well as sustain patient
comfort and provide appropriate education throughout treatment.

· Collect and update patient health history

· Conduct a thorough review of the patient’s health history to provide quality care

· Update and maintain accurate patient records

· Schedule follow-up appointments as needed

· Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and record-keeping

· Take x-rays and other diagnostic assessments

· Learn and have a continual understanding of health & safety regulations

· Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to
regulations.

· Provide superior chairside assistance (i.e., four-handed dentistry) to supported dentists during a wide variety of procedures with knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.

· Select and set up instruments, equipment, and material needed for patient treatment

· Provide patients with instructions for oral care following all dental treatment procedures

· Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions

· Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health.

· Maintenance/calibrate equipment in collaboration with the dental hygienist.

· Handling various administrative and office duties to maintain the dental clinic.

· Prepare extraction packets as needed including the updating and printing of care
instructions.

· Knowledge of all applicable HIPAA, OSHA, licensing, and clinic regulations. Compliance with policies and procedures set forth either by the Samaritan Dental Clinic and the Samaritan Community Center.

Education, Experience, and Licensing:

• 3 years' experience plus in a general dental clinic (required)
• 1-2 years Dentrix software experience (required)
• Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Licensure (required)
• Bilingual (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
