Position Summary

VFD/PLC Technician responsible for the operation and maintenance of Variable Frequency Drives to control rotating equipment across the site and SCADA components related to the on-site waste water treatment facility. This position will have the responsibility of knowing and learning the technical specifications for all unique models and coordinating with the Equipment Engineer to ensure overall reliability and performance of the fleet.

During construction, this position will likely need to support installation quality control and commissioning/startup activities, while training at the existing operation facility to learn the site standards and work procedures.

Semiconductor fabrication is a 24/7 operation which requires this position to be available to support on-shift technicians with troubleshooting and also to respond to emergencies site in off-hours.

Role And Responsibilities

Here's What You'll be Responsible For:

• Work with engineering team to develop specifications for VFD’s so they fit the appropriate application and fits in the appropriate environment.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities on VFD and PLC equipment in support of system reliability.
• Responds to equipment and system failures and utilizes structured problem solving and troubleshooting techniques to perform failure evaluations of relay controls, variable frequency drives (VFD), motor control centers, and synchronous drives and make necessary adjustments to return normal operational status.
• QAQC and commissioning new VFDs and controllers upon installation for initial start-up or upgrades and replacements.
• Able to work well in team environment, mentoring/training others, and effectively communicate throughout the organization (engineers, technicians, management, customers).
• This is a full time position 1st shift that works 8:00am to 5:00pm M-F. OT as required by project or site needs
  
  
  

Skills And Qualifications

Here's What You'll Bring to Samsung:

• High School Diploma or GED is required; with some college or trade school preferred, apprentice work/study program is a positive.
• Texas Journeyman License preferred
• 2 years’ experience working with motor controls, PLC’s and an array of VFD types.
• Mitsubishi and Yaskawa VFDs very helpful
• Knowledge or PC Software to load and diagnose issue within the VFD Range.
• Specialized training from multiple VFD/PLC manufacturers is a plus
  
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools:

• Strong knowledge of the NEC 70E code as it applies to industrial installations. OSHA 30 card.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution system and single line diagrams.
• Knowledge of standard practices of the Electrical trade.
• Trained in the theory and maintenance of electronics and power electronics.
• Trained in the theory and maintenance of programmable logic controllers and SCADA systems.
• Experience and training in the use of meters to read Voltage, Current (Amps).
