POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Loan Operations Specialist Location: San Antonio Ops Center
Classification: Non-exempt Reports To: Loan Operations Supervisor
OVERVIEW
Responsible for post-closing, servicing and processing consumer loans and credit cards.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Contribution to Credit Union Goals
- Accomplish assigned tasks efficiently, accurately and at optimum capacity; thus saving time and money, making the credit union more profitable.
Essential Duties
- Perform all duties associated with consumer loans/credit card post-closing, servicing and the booking of indirect loans
- Crosstrain duties with other loan operations staff
- Communicate with office loan staff to promote efficient and correct workflow as related to consumer loans and credit cards
- Audit dealer loan docs, present problem resolutions as needed, and ensuring follow-up thru completion
- Process vehicular accident, disability, and death insurance claims, GAP, and coordinate between our members and the insurance company
Security/Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all credit union policies and procedures
- Possess a working knowledge of the Federal Lending Regulation, particularly related to consumer lending
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Compliance and other regulatory requirements to which the credit union must adhere
- Maintain an understanding of and compliance with state and federal regulations and all internal policies and procedures
- Complete annual Bank Secrecy Act training and any other assigned training tasks
Other Duties
- Assist in any area as directed by VP Consumer Lending
- Complete training as assigned
- Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, by-laws, and operational procedures
- Develop a working knowledge of credit union's electronic data processing system and a knowledge of all loan products
- Answer incoming calls
- Respond to member inquiries and office staff inquiries timely
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Establish, foster, and maintain strong working relationships with team members, Lending, Operations Staff, and department managers. Provide a high level of customer service when responding to internal departments to resolve problems or answer questions
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills; including telephone skills to interact professionally and effectively with members, staff and others

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 1-3 years in a lending environment at a financial institution or related field
- Consumer loan processing experience preferred
- Bilingual/Spanish preferred, not required
- Experience knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of loan products and understanding of regulatory compliance and legal requirements necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to sit for an extended period of time
- Must be able to utilize/view a monitor for extended period of time
- Must frequently use a keyboard to enter data
