Job Details
The primary objective of this position is to procure in-kind food donations and related products from food industry partners (retail stores, restaurants and manufacturers) while maintaining and building strong relationships in support of their food donation programs.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of in-kind food donations and related products acquisition including but not limited to researching, developing and maintaining relationships with food donors and prospects via in-person visits, phone calls, mailings, and publications under the direction of the Director of Food Industry Partnerships.
- Analyze the productivity of donors using the current inventory management system. Create reports and graphs to track trends.
- Meet or exceed specific goals in pounds donated by donors, as set by the Director of Food Industry Partnerships and Chief Development Officer.
- Visit donor personnel and management regularly to ensure that donation program guidelines are understood and implemented.
- Coordinate with the Transportation Manager the pick-up and delivery of any and all food donations secured and obtained.
- Educate donor personnel (meat, deli, dairy, bakery, and produce managers, receivers, and store and warehouse managers) on their programs donation guidelines.
- Attend and speak at donor meetings and store training sessions when possible.
- Donor Recognition; will be responsible for an ongoing program to acknowledge and recognize donors through thank you letters and other appropriate means.
- When directed, work with the Development Department to solicit in-kind donations to assist in general fundraising, events, and operational needs.
- Prepare regular written status reports on product donations activities each week.
- Work with Director of Food Industry Partnerships and the Chief Development Officer; helping to develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to food sourcing.
- Comply with and abide by all personnel policies and accepts additional duties as assigned by the Director of Food Industry Partnerships and Chief Development Officer.
Qualifications:
- College degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in Sales.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Skilled in computer applications i.e. word processing and database management.
- Good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to organize work, time, and self.
- Detail oriented, timely and accurate in producing reports.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
- Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, reach with hand and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment is primarily indoors, but will be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions.
