Position Summary
To provide timely, accurate information to appropriate units and supervisors, coordinate radio transmissions, refer
inquiries to proper personnel and provide high quality customer service.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Answer multi-line telephone and route to proper person or take message, make telephone calls to assist
field units
2. Conduct authorized NCIC/TCIC transactions
3. Contact or refer to appropriate District personnel any request for services not usually provided by
Department.
4. Understand and use Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD)/ Records Management System (RMS)
5. Dispatch police units for emergencies and general services
6. Monitor burglar/fire/panic alarm systems and video monitoring systems
7. Make appropriate District notifications on critical incidents
8. Perform quality data entry activity
9. Individuals are accountable for being reasonable, responsive, and respectful

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional
- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) basic telecommunicator license (persons hired without
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Typing skills of 40 words per minute with high degree of accuracy
- Ability to properly use multi-line telephone, radio system, and computers
- Knowledge of terminology and general procedures associated with police dispatching service
- Ability to work well with others – peers, students, parents, faculty and community
- Demonstrated communication skills: oral and written
- Demonstrated effective and logical problem-solving ability
- Must successfully pass all phases of the applicant process, including criminal history, drug testing, medical
- Ability to work all shifts, holidays and weekends, and a variety of assignments as directed
- Be able to accurately listen and record information
Working Conditions
Work Environment:
- Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional
Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting,
speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
