SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
This posting is to fill three (3) full-time, tenure-track positions teaching English courses that reflect the diverse needs of changing demographics and expanding English department programs. The successful candidate will show familiarity with most of the following: AB-705/1705, ELL, Ethnic Studies, Composition and Rhetoric, Distance Education and/or Writing Center Studies, along with experience working with diverse, and multilingual, students. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to integrating equity and inclusion in all aspects of their work. This assignment includes teaching courses throughout the English department curriculum and actively participating in department and college responsibilities including curriculum development, assessment of outcomes, regular professional development, and collegial processes. The successful candidate will utilize recognized methodologies that support student success and be part of an engaged campus community.

- Ability to use teaching methods that engage all students actively in their own learning and encourage them to learn problem solving skills
- Ability to teach in both in-person and virtual environments
- Ability to adapt teaching methodology to meet the needs of an ethnically and culturally diverse group of students
- Ability to assist students in the acquisition, analysis, and evaluation of knowledge and skills in both in person and virtual settings.
- Willingness to work with both faculty and staff in a spirit of collegiality at department, division, college, and District levels
- Ability to reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy and modify techniques to engage students

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years post-secondary teaching experience.
- Teaching experience in English at the community college level.
- Experience teaching underserved and/or ESL students in transfer-level composition (AB-705/AB-1705).
- Experience using appropriate technologies in teaching, including experience teaching online delivery systems.
- Experience and/or preparation in teaching a range of literature and/or literary production courses, including, but not limited to African American Literature, Chicano-Latino Literature, British Literature, Journalism, Literary Magazine Production, etc.
- Experience with student learning outcomes and student success; the ability to design instruction to meet those outcomes, using a variety of techniques to accommodate varied learning styles, cultural experiences, and motivation levels in an open access learning environment, including the use of culturally responsive practices in the college classroom.
- Evidence of professional development activities related to teaching at the post-secondary level.
