Saphire Event Group, with four boutique venues in the South Shore, is looking for talented, enthusiastic, energetic and passionate individuals to join our incredible team.

JOB PURPOSE

The Event Manager is the Supervisor of all event operations staff and acts as the coordinator between the front of the house and back of the house. Directs all activities of the event adhering to all timelines. This includes set-ups, meal service, clean-up, and preparing for the next event.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for managing events and ensuring event checklists are being executed and all company protocols and policies are being followed by event staff.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

· Reviews Banquet Event Orders to fully understand all details associated with an assigned event.

· Executes Event pre-set-up checklist to ensure all equipment and supplies are ordered

· Creates detailed staff assignment sheet and coordinates details of events such as menu execution, hors d’oeuvres, and/or ceremony details in regards to serving, bar operations, set-ups, breakdowns, assisting in the kitchen, etc.

· Works with set-up crew to ensure the property is ready for upcoming events.

· Pre-meal menu training of all wait staff to understand menu items.

· Works with Event Producers to ensure all wedding party requests are met.

· Works as a team with other Event Managers, the Culinary Department, the Estates Department, Event Producers, and the Staffing and Training Managers.

· Coordinates all details with the bartender and supervises the operations of the bar.

· Ensures bartenders have executed their end-of-the-night checklist.

· Walks through the event site to ensure any prior reported repairs were made.

· Works with the Event Producers and Director of Operations to resolve any customer issues or complaints.

· After every event, inspect the venue and equipment to locate any cosmetic repairs or operational issues and include them in the event recap.

· Closes and balances cash drawers at bar close

· Assists with any reconciling of end-of-event paperwork and processing of payments at event conclusion.

· Completes all post-event paperwork and recaps.

· Executes end-of-the-night checklist and closes the building.

· Analyzes event performance of staff.

· Maintains excellent interpersonal relationships with clients, guests, and vendors.

· Maintains a complete knowledge of all menu items in case one needs to step in to help a guest.

· Make suggestions for improvement to the Director of Operations and Management on staff performance, training processes, and timelines.

· Responsible for learning and applying all SEG policies and procedures

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Event Manager is the direct supervisor to all event staff, is the direct report line for the hourly staff, and is responsible for ensuring all SEG policies and protocols are being adhered to by each hat.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

· Education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

· Must have excellent leadership skills and be able to follow and interpret directions.

· Able to handle high amounts of stress and ability to multi-task.

· Previous hospitality industry experience preferred, preferably in a multi-unit venue.

· Strong understanding of all hourly service jobs including the challenges and rewards of each position.

· Computer skills include knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Familiarity with Caterease and Social Tables is a plus.

· Must be ServSafe, TIPS, AED, and Allergen certified.

· Must be assertive while maintaining the diplomacy of a good negotiator.

· Must be organized, creative, and knowledgeable about a variety of religious and cultural customs.

HOURS

This position is an on-call, part-time position that requires a varying schedule to include weekends, evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates. Due to the seasonal nature of our business, availability of shifts is only possible when events are scheduled and based on the type of event, guest count, and time of event. All scheduling is done through our online employee scheduling software. Event season for our company is considered April through November.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
