Sapphire Recruitment is seeking a Project Manager to lead strategic engagement with Indigenous Nations and communities across New York State. This role focuses on ensuring clean energy programs are inclusive, equitable, and aligned with community priorities. The position is remote but requires statewide travel. This is a two-year contract engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous Nations, Tribal leadership, and community-based organizations.
- Organize and facilitate consultation meetings, workshops, and engagement events, including logistics, communications, and follow-ups.
- Support the development of Indigenous Nation engagement strategies, consultation policies, and cultural competency training.
- Coordinate with government and non-government stakeholders to advance equity-driven clean energy initiatives.
- Develop resources and communication materials that highlight community priorities, governance structures, and relationship preferences.
- Conduct research on Indigenous energy and climate issues, policies, and emerging opportunities.
- Represent the team at events and maintain related website content.
- Bachelor’s degree and 7–10 years of experience in Indigenous community engagement, clean energy policy, or a related field.
- Proven ability to lead community engagement with historically marginalized groups.
- Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities, with the capability to translate complex information for diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with Indigenous cultures, histories, and protocols in New York State.
- Lived experience in Indigenous communities or environmental and social justice work is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Salesforce and related systems is a plus.
- Remote position (must be a NY State resident).
- Full-time, 2-year engagement with potential for extension.
- Statewide travel required.
