What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Intake Coordinator position at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System?
Responsible for gathering demographic and clinical information on all patients presenting for direct admission/observation. Performs data entry to generate encounter number. Prioritizes and appropriately assigns patient based on patient care needs, isolation protocols, unit based admission criteria, availability of necessary unit resources and regulatory requirements. Works collaboratively with the ICM manager, Lead Intake RN and clinical case managers in application of guideline screening criteria. Maintains accurate hospital census data.
Required Qualifications
Require one (1) year recent clerical experience (prior hospital experience preferred, i.e. unit secretary, monitor technician, scheduling coordinator or call center environment).
Require successful completion of medical terminology course (or equivalent experience, and/or Health Unit Coordinator course).
Require expert customer service and interpersonal skills.
Require strong organizational skills and ability to complete tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer knowledge/proficiency of CRT functions, basic typing skills for data entry.
Prefer working knowledge/familiarity with commonly used computer applications
Prefer strong communication skills for interactions with physicians, office staff, and interdepartmental areas.
Mandatory Education
HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
Preferred Education
AA: Associate of Arts
