About The CareFirst Program
Sasha Bruce Youthwork and CareFirst are partnering to provide behavioral health services to various clients across SBY residential programs in order to reduce barriers to mental health services among youth experiencing homelessness.
Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Clinician will report to the Deputy Chief of Programs.. They will respond to the behavioral health needs of program participants across Sasha Bruce, providing in-house therapy on-site counseling and clinical support.
Qualifications
- Required License/Certification: Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work or a human services related field; LGSW or LICSW with at least 2 years of experience providing services in behavioral health, addiction treatment and mental health;
- Preferred: Master's Degree in Social Work; LICSW; 3-5 years of experience providing services in behavioral health, addiction treatment and mental health; experience providing behavioral health services in a primary care setting or in the community; experience working with the homeless population;
- A minimum of 2 years of extensive experience with at risk youth;
- Competency in crisis intervention and de-escalation;
- Modalities may include Family Systems, CBT, Somatic Experiencing, Group and EMDR;
- Provision of LGBTQ affirming, de-pathologized care;
- Strong communication and organizational skills required; and,
- Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Programs, this is a full-time, exempt level position. All candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation; pass the required clearances; and provide any additional information regarding previous records, if necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Screen youth for Behavioral Health services in various residential programs at Sasha Bruce including: PASSAGES, Phillip Reid, THP, ILP, TLP and Olaiya’s Cradle programs; Refer youth to CareFirst program;
- Complete behavioral health plans with referred youth within one month of initial engagement; plans are person-centered through a collaborative, goal oriented process with youth and staff, particularly addressing identified behavior modification needs;
- Provide a range of clinical services to youth including individual, group and family therapy using behavioral methods and modalities appropriate to the client;
- Assess eligibility for ongoing community based services and refer appropriately; collaborate with families, schools, law enforcement and emergency services, and other agencies and community partners to coordinate and facilitate services outlined in treatment plan to clients;
- Deliver individual crisis intervention to clients on site; de-escalate and stabilize clients;
- Facilitate psycho-education groups on-site, utilizing evidence based practices on various topics including substance abuse, coping skills, mental health and wellbeing, and other related subjects;
- Work with the Clinical Director to provide supervision and training to clinical interns (MSWs) to expand counseling services for homeless populations;
- Complete service documentation in client case records within 24-48 hours of the service; maintain accurate, complete, and confidential case files, written documentation, reports to track client progress and outcomes and all other necessary clinical documentation;
- Participate in regular biweekly team consultation meetings with case managers, housing specialists, employment specialists and/or other staff working with shared clients;
- Participate in bi-weekly clinical supervision with the Sasha Bruce Clinical Director
- Participate in bi-weekly supervision with Deputy Chief of Programs;
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, conferences, regular supervision and community outreach events as required;
- Availability in evenings and weekends as needed;
- Other duties as assigned;
