What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional position at SAU 56?
Join our team to provide direct instructional and behavioral support to students across Kindergarten–12th grade. As a Paraeducator, you’ll work under teacher supervision to reinforce learning, support student needs, and foster a safe, inclusive environment. We offer competitive pay and benefits.
Primary Responsibilities
●Deliver academic support in reading, writing, math, and other subject areas in small groups or one-on-one
●Reinforce classroom instruction based on lesson plans and IEP goals
●Assist with behavior management, daily routines, transitions, and personal care as needed
●Supervise students in various settings (classroom, lunch, recess, field trips)
●Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies
Required Qualifications
1.NH Paraeducator II certification, which requires:
○At least 48 college credits (two years of post‑secondary study) or an associate degree; or
○Passing score on the Para Pro test
○Valid NH paraprofessional certificate (Para II level) or be eligible for certification
2.High school diploma or equivalent
3.Successful completion of NH criminal history and DCYF background checks
4.Strong interpersonal and communication skills; patient and adaptable approach
