Savage is seeking a Director of Operations who will be responsible for leading the multiple operations in our Rail Services Business for North America. The successful candidate will oversee the operation teams and will have a detailed understanding of rail switching and transloading operations, FRA, and safety regulations. This role will report to the VP & Business Leader and plays a significant role in business development, acquisitions, due diligence, integration efforts, operational problem resolution, customer negotiations, Team Member management, etc.

Location: Midvale, UT (SSC) or Houston, TX (The Woodlands) or Other

What You Will Be Doing With Us

• Work with Rail Services Leadership team to establish and execute company strategy in the Rail Services operations
• Lead General Managers in the Rail Services operations in executing Savage’s quality program (S7) and creating a culture around customer service and safety
• Develop an intimate understanding of the operations and contracts. Work with Leadership to ensure compliance with contractual obligations by customers and Savage while working safely
• Lead and/or support negotiations with customers ranging from contract renewals, commercial terms, contract term, and other business aspects
• Responsible for the financial performance of the Rail Services business
• Support business development efforts in the region
• Lead leadership development efforts for General Managers, Operations Managers and Team Members
• Lead the startup of new operations, including the coordination of technical, operational, administrative, and management resources

• Implementation and support of ongoing company initiatives
• Make recommendations for process improvements that will impact the operations in the areas of productivity, safety, and financial performance
• Provide advice and input into organizational matters or other business matters
• Ability to make decisions and to know when to ask for support
• Sense of Urgency – knows what needs to get done and delivers results
  
  

Here Is What We Need From You

• Have or have the ability to obtain a US Passport, TWIC Card and valid driver's license
• Previous experience leading multiple operations and leaders simultaneously
• Understanding and passion for the Savage Vision and Legacy
• Previous experience leading rail switching and transloading operations strongly preferred
• Advanced degree preferred (MBA) or commensurate work experience
• 5-10 years of management experience and leading others
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to provide feedback up and down the organization
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision
