- The Locomotive Operator is responsible for daily railcar movement - We will provide training
- Assist with spotting cars on the correct track; move empty cars and build the outbound train
- Visually inspect rail cars and perform minor repairs
- Understand and adhere to rail rules and safety regulations as prescribed by Savage, our customer, and the Railroad
- Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts - Dupont Schedule
- Attend and pass all training associated with job related coursework. This includes but is not limited to: OSHA, HazMat and FRA related courses. Willing to complete switchmen, Locomotive and Distributive power training & general safety training
- Must be able to pass the plant's site requirement test
- Strong communication and listening skills including the ability to read, write and understand English
- Perform basic maintenance
- One year or more of Rail Industry experience is a plus
- Work experience in an industrial environment is also a plus
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to climb on and off railcars and locomotives
- Walk 2 miles per day on uneven terrain, etc.
- Ability to work, walk, and stand on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time
