Receiving Clerk
Position Summary: Verify and keep records on incoming shipments and distribute tools and supplies. Compare identifying information and counts, weigh or measure items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of ladings, invoices, orders, or other records. Input necessary data in computer to record receipt of goods.
Essential Functions
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Directs others in receiving incoming shipments.
- Maintains records of supplier performance problems.
- Distribute and receive hand tools and supplies from stockroom.
- Complies with established policy, safety standards, and quality procedures to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
Minimum Requirements
Training and Experience:
- High school degree or equivalent.

- Multi-tasking and project management.
- Effective use of problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, etc.
Physical Demands: The employee is required to:
- stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor
- exert at a minimum 50 pounds of force occasionally
- lift up to 75 pounds occasionally
- weight, force or shape of object may require the use of overhead crane or lifting assist
Working Conditions: Normal office environment and industrial worksite including but not limited to noise from operating machines, moving equipment or moving machine parts, objects that may have sharp edges or burrs, machine shop related chemicals that may require restricted handling and proper use of PPE.
