Job Title: Director of Sales – Trumpet

Position Summary:
The Schmitt Music Specialty Shops are one of the premier instrument resources in the United States, offering a wide range of instrument, accessory and print music options specific to your instrument. Schmitt Music is currently seeking an accomplished musician for a role in managing upper-line sales at Schmitt Music’s headquarters. The ideal candidate will play at a high level and is a part of the local music community. We are looking for a person interested in participating in a collaborative approach to educational outreach, instrument selections, and developing new products.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting customers with their instrument purchases
- Providing expert advice and suggestions for accessories and print
- Develop and expand our current customer base by engaging with customers online and in-person through k-12 educational outreach events.
- Choosing and preparing instruments for customer selections
- Collaborate with the shop manager on a regular basis regarding customer needs, shop stock, community engagement opportunities and other projects as determined by the DOS team and HQ manager.
- Organizing and maintaining stock levels of instruments in our retail stores
- Maintaining and developing a best in class online experience
- Participating with the professional community and collaborating with colleges and universities
- Participating in the creative development of products and new services
- Willingness to travel, train, and engage an enthusiastic sales team in the Upper Midwest.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Retail and office-type working conditions.
- Physical Demands: The responsibilities of this position may frequently require using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing. This position may often involve standing, walking and sitting. This position may sometimes involve climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
- The person in this position may lift up to 20-30 pounds

- Must be able to play trumpet at a high level and be discerning about sound quality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Outgoing and engaging in-person and online through social media
Salary : $45,000 - $50,000
