Job Description: Responsible for performing basic to intermediate engineering tasks associated with energy engineering of basic performance contracting projects. Perform preliminary and detailed energy engineering studies of complex projects of unlimited scope and size. Perform energy-use baseline analysis, including utility rate simulations and weather normalization. Generate baseline energy models and perform energy savings calculations. Ensure that savings projections are plausible and financial risk is identified. Plan, organize, and participate in performing preliminary and detailed project development audits of basic performance contracting projects. Assist or lead in defining project scope and performing project cost estimates. Ensure project estimates are accurate and the project scope is executable within the budget. Contribute to strategizing the sale of a project with the salesperson. Requires 20% domestic travel to project sites for field investigations. Remote work eligible up to 1 day/wk
Requirements: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience in building systems engineering and energy efficiency, or related occupation, which must include at least some experience in the following skills: Performing utility baseline analysis, conducting site surveys, and calculating energy savings for energy conservation measures using both whole building simulation and stand-alone calculation approaches; Performing energy-use baseline analysis, weather normalization, benchmarking analysis, utility rate simulations, and utility incentive research; Performing preliminary and detailed project development audits of performance contracting projects including field investigation, understanding of mechanical and other building systems, data logger deployment and analysis, identification of energy conservation measures, data coordination with other team members, and participating in post site visit planning meetings; Generating baseline energy models and performing energy savings calculations using hourly, whole building energy analysis and simulation programs; Performing stand-alone energy savings calculations for energy conservation measures that do not require whole building simulation; and Preparing technical audit reports using technical writing.
