POSITION: Reading Specialist (15 hrs. per week)


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NH teacher certification as Reading & Writing Teacher or Reading and Writing Specialist or proof of eligibility for NH certification
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Experience preferred but not required

REPORTS TO: Building Principal


JOB GOAL:
To provide all students with a quality educational program in which they reach their full potential


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and prepare instruction based upon District curriculum and student needs
  • Demonstrate knowledge of content areas and child development
  • Provide instruction in Reading following district curriculum, setting high and attainable outcomes
  • Design and use assessment data to monitor progress of all students towards established standards, maintaining accurate records
  • Create an environment of respect and rapport that establishes a culture of learning
  • Manage classroom procedures and student behavior
  • Communicate with students and their families
  • Collaborate with other educators within the school and across the District
  • Implement 504 and IEP accommodations and modifications
  • Actively participate within the professional community, growing professionally, reflecting on teaching and demonstrating professionalism
  • Follow District policies and procedures
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Jackson Personnel Policy for Contracted Employees.


WORK YEAR:
187 day / school year position


EVALUATION
: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Jackson Grammar School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. The principal and/or administrative designee will be the evaluator.
