JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB GOAL:
To generate and maintain positive cash flow while providing excellent customer service, maintain inventory control, and meet or exceed policy and procedures as outlined by Internal Auditor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
- Retail or inventory control experience.
- Cash handling experience.
- Familiarity with standard inventory practices and cost analysis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of and skill in using spreadsheets, databases and other software required to operate the bookstore in an efficient manner. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing. Possess skills related to problem-solving, planning, supervising, organizing, and scheduling. Ability to work independently. Strong analytical skills. Ability to meet deadlines with time constraints. High level stamina. Demonstrated proactive orientation.
REPORTS TO:
Director, Manatee Technical College
SUPERVISES:
Assigned clerical personnel
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Access, analyze, interpret, and use data in decision-making.
- Ensure that established internal controls are properly followed.
- Keep supervisor informed of activities in area of assignment.
- Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
- Use a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
- Set high standards for self and others.
- Order in a timely manner, track, and maintain an inventory of books, tools, kits, and uniforms.
- Handle in an appropriate manner all student and instructor concerns related to the bookstore to establish a healthy campus atmosphere.
- Responsible for training and providing ongoing professional development for the bookstore team.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with vendors and instructors to keep up with textbook adoptions and to have all required materials in stock for the start of each semester.
- Adjust strategies, revise procedures to accommodate unexpected situations.
- Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift a minimum of five (5) pounds multiple times, to reach floor level and to lift books to a height of seven (7) feet.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
