Position Summary
The Preschool Teacher (Classroom Support) is responsible for providing a warm, positive, nurturing and organized environment for preschool children to learn through developmentally-appropriate activities and interactions.
This position will consult and collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop an understanding of each child’s unique individual needs, and to develop effective curriculum and instructional strategies, which promote social / emotional development, communication and language development, intellectual and cognitive development, visual-spatial processing, sensory-motor function, and executive functioning.
In addition, the position must maintain professional communication with all team members, families, and the community. The Assistant Preschool Teacher (Classroom Support) works collaboratively with each family and other team members to ensure that each child is provided with the highest quality educational program for optimal success educationally, socially, and emotionally.
Duties and Responsibilities Highlights
- Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team consisting of educators and therapists.
- Implements developmentally appropriate classroom activities
Qualifications :
A minimum of 12 ECE (Early Childhood Education) units and related experience. An Associate's, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience working with children with special needs in a classroom setting.
- Knowledge of child development, various instructional and inclusion strategies appropriate for children with a variety of disabilities, and developmental models of intervention, including but not limited to the Early Start Denver Model and the DRDP assessment tool.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills able to manage competing priorities and workflow.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
