What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Operator position at Schott North America?
Your Contribution
- Dispatch Handling: Checks the status of deliveries ready for dispatch in the SAP system and prepares the shipment process accordingly. Creates and prepares necessary shipment and accompanying documents, delivery notes, transportation orders and invoices needed for the shipment under consideration of delivery and payment conditions and all other order specifications. Informs forwarding company about cargo requirement and initiates execution of transport. Organizes abnormal load and transport of hazardous goods.
- Transportation Offers and Orders: Coordinates dispatch handling with forwarding companies, traffic carrier and SCHOTT internal customers aiming at timely, smoothly and efficient delivery service and dispatch handling and compliance with valid forwarding conditions. Obtains offers form transport carriers and compares prices, examines productivity and transport quality (schedule goods, air and marine transport) of providers. Negotiates prices with forwarder and transport carriers within delegated authority and contributes to a cost reduction by useful bundling of goods.
- Export and Import Processing: Prepares necessary customs documents for export and import. Determines toll rates and relevant freight charges for export and import shipments for further processing. Clarifies inexplicit circumstances with the responsible department or customs office. Prepares import and duty accounts.
- Packaging Material: Schedules prepackaging and final packaging. Ensures adequate and timely ordering of packaging material under consideration of stock values and replacement time. Prepares requests for special packaging materials and clarifies technical isssues.
- Training: Retains a current knowledge within his/her area of responsibility by constant training measures
Your Profile
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2-3 years shipping/receiving experience required
- Must have prior forklift experience
- Valid driver's license required
