ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- Operate equipment such as, forklift, and dock-locks safely & effectively.
- Assist shipping and receiving with loading/unloading operations. Load/unload trailers safely and neatly in an efficient manner.
- Inspect carrier trailers for cleanliness and damage. Complete equipment damage/condition reports when necessary.
- Able to follow proper procedures for staging trailers, loading units, and other operations.
- Able to do basic math, to know trailer size and to read a tape measure to utilize trailers to max MSF per truck.
- Understand shipment planning, documentation, & the importance of only having one Partial order on a truck.
- Able to understand and use the Axiom tablet for scanning units every time they are moved.
- Works with supervisor to ensure all company and safety policies are followed on shift.
- Coordinates work assignments of lift drivers and hostlers for incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Stage orders for the next day.
- Maintain BOLS and email to the correct person.
- Fills out Dispatch sheets and add and cancel loads as needed.
- Receive orders off the corrugator and constantly review schedule and order status.
- Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Create and maintain a safe working environment and clean warehouse.
- Covers any shift as needed for vacation coverage and fills in when/if needed on a fork lift.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Comprehend and follow all written procedures and instructions given by supervisors. Additional duties as assigned.
- Use proper communications skills with co-workers, customers, and vendors. Possess basic reading and writing skills enough to complete essential paperwork.
- Follow all safety rules and be able to perform required equipment inspections.
- Forklift certification.
- Ability to speak and understand English.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages & measurement, preferred.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and processing daily reports, preferred.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3 years’ experience of safely operating a forklift, preferred.
