The box office team member provides superior customer service to all museum guests. This position works at the information booth selling admission tickets and memberships, and checking in groups. This position assists guests with questions and comments to ensure that guests have a good overall museum experience.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee on occasion may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Employee must be able to meet physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
This position has no direct or indirect supervisory responsibilities. This position must maintain positive working relationships with management, employees, applicants, vendors and the general public.

- Greet visitors, monitor traffic flow, and assist customer service with information.
- Cash handling of register till, change given and balancing of register till at end of day.
- Greet large groups upon arrival and facilitate their visit to museum (includes confirming headcounts, taking payments)
- Respond to guest questions and concerns in a professional manner.
- Monitor lobby front doors at all times when the museum is open.
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism and appearance as a representative of Science Museum Oklahoma to the public.
- Weekdays, evenings, weekend, and occasional holiday availability is required.
- Maintain physical appearance of museum by keeping areas clean and organized
- Ability to capitalize on sales opportunities, delivers outstanding service, and efficiently administers the ticket and membership sales process.
- Proactively maintain a knowledge base of all museum programs, shows, memberships and auxiliary services.
- Clerical duties as assigned and handling purchase orders for groups.
- Assist with the set up of SMO events.
- Assume other responsibilities and tasks as requested.
- Previous work experience with cash handling or operation of a cash register.
- Previous customer service work experience
- Preference may be given to candidates 21 years of age or older that can work at events where alcohol is served.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience at cultural institutions/attractions/performance venues front-of-house operations
- Preference may be given to bilingual - Spanish/English candidates
- Demonstrated ability to serve our guest with excellent customer service.
- Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
- Ability to work under pressure with flexibility.
- Must have a working knowledge and comfort level with basic mathematics. Be able to compute percentages and discounts via point of sale software.
